Weight matters: in obesity, actual body weight overestimates CrCl — consider ideal or adjusted body weight. Cockcroft–Gault assumes a stable creatinine; it is unreliable in acute kidney injury, pregnancy, extremes of muscle mass, or paediatrics.

For health-professional use. Cockcroft–Gault estimates CrCl — it is not eGFR (CKD-EPI). Use CrCl for DOAC and many renally-cleared drugs as directed by the product information. Not a substitute for clinical judgement.
